Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Boulder (ranked 6221 p4p, 555 weight class) and Paily Vattakkuzhi (ranked 7534 p4p, 609 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boris Boulder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paily Vattakkuzhi!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vattakkuzhi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Boulder to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vattakkuzhi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Boulder is stalling in the full guard.
Vattakkuzhi wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boulder accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vattakkuzhi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boulder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Boulder sitting in guard here, content to control.
Vattakkuzhi is trying to control the position but Boulder postures up.

Boulder stays in close to Vattakkuzhi's body and controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boulder misses with a takedown attempt
and Vattakkuzhi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Boris Boulder has been cut.

Boulder gets a double leg takedown into Vattakkuzhi's guard.
Boulder is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Boulder distracts Vattakkuzhi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Boulder advances to half guard.

Boulder works his foot free and advances to mount.
Boulder working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Vattakkuzhi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Vattakkuzhi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boulder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boulder lands a couple of good shots and Vattakkuzhi has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vattakkuzhi is in bad spot here.
Boulder lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Boulder is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Vattakkuzhi is tapping out! This one is all over!
