Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucky Peters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Freddie Zamora! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peters slips under a jab from Zamora. Peters connects with a nice looking jab.
A punch combination from Peters misses. Zamora chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Zamora lands with a slapping head kick. A slow jab from Zamora misses its intended target. Peters missing with a left hand there. Zamora was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Zamora darts in looking for a takedown but Peters gets double underhooks and turns Zamora into the cage. Peters falls off balance throwing a combination
and Zamora counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Peters's coaches at The Coffee Shop have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Peters keeping control of the position. Peters is trying to stand up here but Zamora is controlling him well. Zamora is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peters wants to improve his position but Zamora is controlling well.
Zamora is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Peters defends it well. Zamora is looking for a kimura here.
Peters is looking for a sweep. Zamora is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Peters is staying active underneath Zamora, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Zamora wants to pass to mount but Peters is defending the position. Peters is defending against the submission attempts here by Zamora.
Zamora prevents Peters from improving his position. Zamora wants to free his trapped foot but Peters is holding on for dear life with his legs. Zamora is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Peters sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Zamora is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Zamora is working for a kimura but Peters is defending it quite comfortably.
Zamora seems to be looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Zamora is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Zamora uses his free foot to push down on Peters's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Peters. Zamora working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Peters looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Zamora! Submission of the night perhaps?
