Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Lakoj Dresden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jari Sillanpaa! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sillanpaa misses with a left hand and Dresden counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Dresden uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sillanpaa. Dresden throwing a counter right hand but Sillanpaa manages to avoid it. Sillanpaa throws an off balance right hand
letting Dresden counter with a right hand. Sillanpaa lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sillanpaa misses with an uppercut. Dresden saw that one coming. Sillanpaa darts in and clinches Dresden up against the cage. Sillanpaa working aggressively here.
Sillanpaa has a couple of punches blocked by Dresden.
Dresden decides to pull guard. Dresden looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sillanpaa is one step ahead there. Dresden seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Dresden trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dresden looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Sillanpaa connects with a good right hand that stumbles Dresden. Dresden circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Sillanpaa lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? Dresden slips under a jab from Sillanpaa.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sillanpaa looks to throw the jab but Dresden is out of range. Sillanpaa cracks Dresden with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sillanpaa has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dresden to stand back up!
Dresden is rocked!
It looks like Lakoj Dresden has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dresden slips a jab from Sillanpaa. Sillanpaa pounces like a tiger and cracks Dresden with a vicious hook! Dresden is down but not out! Sillanpaa follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jari Sillanpaa!
