Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mervin Scott (ranked 25078 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Diaz (ranked 6153 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen Ambitionz Az a Ridah as his entrance music. The key to victory for Mervin Scott has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mervin Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joey Diaz! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Scott is trying to defend but Diaz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Scott trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Diaz manages to pass to mount!
Diaz controlling the pace for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz avoids the attempt from Scott to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Scott manages to avoid the submission attempt. Scott tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Scott is working hard here to advance position. Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Scott tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Diaz working away. Diaz tries to move to mount but Scott blocks the move with his legs. Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Diaz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Scott will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Scott is looking for a sweep. Scott gets back to half guard. Diaz controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Scott doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz. Diaz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Diaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. It looked like Scott wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Diaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. Diaz pushing down on Scott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Scott is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard. Scott is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Diaz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Diaz's back! Diaz trying to control but not successfully. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! I really don't envy Diaz right now.
Diaz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Scott's shoulder. That is not cool. Scott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Diaz lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Diaz taking a breather here. Diaz is trying to get an arm triangle but Scott is defending well. Scott tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Diaz taking a breather here. Diaz working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott is trying to get back to half guard. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Scott tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott tries a head kick but it misses.
Diaz throws a right and a left that Scott avoids nicely. Diaz throws a series of strikes that have Scott backpedaling.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Diaz as Scott tries to tie him up. Diaz stops a takedown attempt from Scott.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Scott is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Scott is struggling to control the position. A quick uppercut on the inside from Scott. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Diaz can't break the clinch.
Diaz's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Diaz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scott did well to prevent Diaz getting side control. Scott is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Diaz is thwarting Scott's attempts to control the position. Joey Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Diaz content to control rather than advance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scott avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scott sprawls well initially but Diaz persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Scott kicks Diaz off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz swats away the attempt to clinch by Scott. Scott scores with a one two! Diaz had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Joey Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Scott forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott managing to block the knees to the body from Diaz.
Scott creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Diaz breaks the clinch.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scott swats him away and circles back towards the center. Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Scott circles away quickly and effectively. Scott dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. Diaz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Scott in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott being controlled here momentarily. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Scott from controlling successfully. Scott has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Scott thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Scott works over Diaz with some ground and pound from guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mervin Scott. I think Diaz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Joey Diaz! Joey Diaz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
