The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Scott is trying to defend but Diaz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

It looked like Scott wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Diaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Diaz can't break the clinch.
Diaz's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Joey Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Scott scores with a one two! Diaz had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mervin Scott.
I think Diaz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Joey Diaz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
