Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mat Diaz (ranked 136 p4p, 18 weight class) and David Lang (ranked 148 p4p, 20 weight class). Diaz comes into the arena with I Got Five On It blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Lang's choice of entrance music: Granite Breaker. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mat Diaz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Lang! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lang lunges at Diaz with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Diaz's hand. Diaz slips a jab from Lang. Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lang on the side of the head. Nice sprawl there from Lang as Diaz shoots in. Diaz scores with a body shot.
Diaz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lang was well out of range. Poor timing from Diaz. Diaz just misses with a punch to the body.
Diaz looks to land a left hand but Lang moved out of range nicely. Lang connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Lang throws the left hand but Diaz avoids the punch easily. Lang scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. A big right from Diaz misses. Diaz misses with a wild body shot. Lang defending well as Diaz loads up on a big left hand. Despite the aggression on Lang's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Lang jabs Diaz right on the nose. Diaz blinks but takes it well.
Diaz is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Diaz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lang. Diaz just misses with a punch to the body.
Diaz takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Lang throws a looping overhand right but Diaz ducks down to avoid it. Diaz misses the shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lang throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Diaz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lang. Diaz is looking to wear down Lang with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Lang misses with a double jab.
Diaz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lang. Lang swings widly with a right hand
and Diaz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Diaz takes a swing at Lang's ribcage but misses. Lang closes the distance and clinches. I was talking to Diaz's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Diaz is working Lang over against the cage. Diaz struggles to land a body shot inside as Lang controls his hands.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Diaz throws a shot from downtown. Lang moves away and avoids it. Diaz connects with a body shot that sends Lang's belly button to the back. A big right from Diaz misses. A telegraphed right hand from Diaz misses the target. Lang throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Diaz looks to land a right hand but Lang moved out of range. Lang feints a jab promting Diaz to slip. Lang then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Diaz slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Lang displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Diaz throws out the jab. A jab lands there for Lang. Lang scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. A shot to the body from Diaz misses letting Lang counter with a right hand. Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lang lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Lang throws a monster overhand right that drops Diaz! Lang follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Lang! David Lang is the new welterweight champion! David Lang decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
