PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Stalin (ranked 5255 p4p, 246 weight class) and Magic Mushroom (ranked 7779 p4p, 295 weight class). Stalin comes to the ring accompanied by USSR. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Stalin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Magic Mushroom!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mushroom shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stalin as he avoids it easily.
Stalin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mushroom is out of range.
Stalin misses with a takedown attempt - Mushroom sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stalin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Magic Mushroom has been cut.
Stalin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mushroom backs up against the ropes.

Stalin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stalin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mushroom trying desperately to get to his feet.

Mushroom tries to reverse the position but Stalin maintains control.

Stalin has control of Mushroom's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mushroom regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mushroom is looking to get to half guard.
Mushroom reaches up to try and control the position but Stalin seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Mushroom rolls and tries to escape and now Stalin has his back!
Stalin controlling well, preventing Mushroom from escaping the position.

Stalin is persistently looking for the submission but Mushroom is defending it well.

Stalin is hanging on to Mushroom's back as he tries to escape.
Mushroom trying to control the position but Stalin manages to sink in the hooks.
Mushroom wants to escape the position.
Stalin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Stalin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Stalin has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Mushroom is in real trouble here. Stalin gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Mushroom is tapping out! Stalin wins by rear naked choke!
