Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Muswell Hill (ranked 6192 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Sterling James (ranked 7395 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muswell Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ty Sterling James!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill scores with a push kick.
Hill dives in and grabs Sterling James's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sterling James pushes down on Hill's head and hops out.
Hill scores with a jab to the head.

Sterling James moves into range and clinches up with Hill.
Sterling James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Sterling James stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Sterling James misses with a body punch.
Hill tries to pull guard but Sterling James won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hill lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Hill misses with some punches.
Hill tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sterling James's elbow.

Hill breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sterling James tries a head kick but it misses.

Sterling James closes the distance and pushes Hill back into the cage.

Hill jumps into guard, dragging Sterling James to the mat.
Hill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hill looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sterling James is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hill looking for a sweep. Not yet Hill, not yet.

Sterling James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sterling James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hill has an active guard here but Sterling James has managed to pass into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sterling James is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hill has managed to free his arm - good work.

Sterling James seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Hill has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sterling James is working away from the top position though.

Sterling James is trying to work for a kimura but Hill is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ty Sterling James will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hill checks a leg kick nicely.
Hill shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sterling James eats them both and turns towards Hill to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sterling James is defended easily by Hill.
Hill doesn't manage to clinch there - Sterling James circles away.

Sterling James shoots in and bounces Hill off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sterling James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hill is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hill has a closed guard, preventing Sterling James from standing up.

Hill wants to hit a switch here but Sterling James passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hill there!
Hill tries to hold on but Sterling James pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sterling James takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hill is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sterling James can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hill is looking to escape.
Sterling James lands a big shot there that rocks Hill but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill is working to get back to half guard.
Hill is working hard here to advance position.
Sterling James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sterling James lands a heavy elbow.
Sterling James has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hill's face.
Hill tries to reverse the position but Sterling James maintains control.
Hill tries to lock up and control but Sterling James gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Sterling James is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Sterling James with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hill reaches up to try and control the position but Sterling James seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Hill rolls and tries to escape and now Sterling James has his back!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hill manages to reverse the position and now he's in Sterling James's guard. Nice work there by Hill.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hill wants to control from the top but Sterling James keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ty Sterling James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Sterling James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hill to the mat! Hill manages to get full guard.

Sterling James throws a big right hand that misses.
Sterling James's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sterling James stands and throws Hill's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Sterling James remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sterling James is controlling the pace.
Sterling James working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Ty Sterling James has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sterling James throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hill tries to roll over but Sterling James keeps him under control.
Muswell Hill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sterling James seems to be looking for submissions.
Hill is looking to improve his position.
Still in half guard, Sterling James seems content to control.
Let's hope that Sterling James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Hill is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Sterling James has latched onto it... Big trouble! Sterling James pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Hill is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Sterling James!
