Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Willy Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Run Man! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Man looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Anderson pushes Man off and scrambles back to his feet.
Man throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Anderson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Man looks like he wants to counter punch here. The fight moves into the clinch position. Man lands a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Anderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Man is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Man trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson throws a strike but Man avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Anderson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Anderson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sloppy strikes from Man. Those never looked like landing. Anderson avoids the head kick by Man.
Man swats away the attempt to clinch by Anderson. Anderson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Man counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Anderson has one foot on Man's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Anderson looks for a takedown but Man sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willy Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Man changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to avoid it but Man manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Anderson to the ground. Anderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Man lands a leg kick that knocks Anderson off balance momentarily. Man changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anderson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Man trying to control the position but Anderson is working away. Man connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Anderson some visible discomfort.
You can see the frustration on Anderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson wants to get back to his feet but Man drags him back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Anderson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Man working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Anderson trying to remain calm as Man controls from the top position. Man wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working. Anderson is looking to regain half guard here but Man keeps moving and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Anderson is being controlled here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Man rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Anderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Man throws a half hearted mid kick. Man moves into the clinch. Anderson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Man is defending well. Anderson can't get the takedown.
Man just leaning against Anderson, taking a breather. Come on Man - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Man. Anderson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Man walks away with a smile on his face. Anderson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Run Man dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Man moves out of range of the body kick from Anderson.
As Anderson backs off Man throws a huge counter combo but Anderson manages to avoid it all. Man darts in and clinches Anderson up against the cage. Man is defending well against a takedown attempt. Man lands with a left to the head. Man's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Anderson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Anderson there as he acknowledges the shot. Man moves into range and clinches up with Anderson. Anderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Anderson drags the fight down to the ground.
Man stays in close to Anderson's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson working for a triangle but Man defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully. Man lands a couple of digs.
Anderson is rocked! Man landing some decent shots from guard. Oh Anderson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Man is in close to Anderson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Man must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Man arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Anderson's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Run Man!
