Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ronnie Mitchell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Song! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mitchell shoots in but Song avoids the takedown attempt easily. Song throws a head kick but Mitchell moves out of range.
Song misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Mitchell was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. No luck for Mitchell with that takedown attempt. An inside leg kick lands from Mitchell. Song looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Song gets a double leg takedown into Mitchell's guard. Mitchell keeping full guard, as Song tries to pass. Song wanted to stand there but Mitchell had control of the position. Song trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mitchell wants to stand but Song is controlling the position. Mitchell keeping moving, preventing Song from controlling successfully. Song looking to pass the guard. Mitchell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Song's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Song can do anything to dispel that myth. Mitchell engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Mitchell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Song wants to stand and escape but Mitchell is having none of it. Song wants to improve his position but instead Mitchell has moved into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mitchell gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Song dives in and scores a takedown into Mitchell's guard. Mitchell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Mitchell jumps guard but Song stands there with Mitchell around his waist. Mitchell gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mitchell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Song is controlling him. Song must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Song wants to stand but Mitchell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mitchell wants to stand but Song is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Song is looking to stand up but Mitchell won't let him. Mitchell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mitchell working a defensive guard here.
Song slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Mitchell keeping full guard, as Song tries to pass.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Song shoots in but no luck this time. Mitchell is looking to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mitchell. Song clinches up with Mitchell and pushes him back against the cage. Song prevents a takedown attempt there.
Song turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Mitchell tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Mitchell manages to reverse the position and now he's in Song's guard. Nice work there by Mitchell.
Song is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ronnie Mitchell will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mitchell has Song pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Song manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mitchell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Song walks away with a smile on his face. Mitchell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Song is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mitchell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Song throws a sloppy head kick so Mitchell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mitchell throws a big right hand that misses. Mitchell chips away with some ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mitchell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mitchell postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Song is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mitchell pushes Song off and gets back to his feet. Song closes the distance and clinches. Song works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Song stopping the sweep attempt from Mitchell. Song wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mitchell pushes Song off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Song takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. No joy there for Song, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Song shoots in and gets a takedown into Mitchell's guard. Song is breathing heavily. Song won't allow Mitchell to sweep him here. Mitchell trying to control the position.
Song with a flurry of punches that miss. Song stops Mitchell from standing up. Song stands up from Mitchell's guard - Song perhaps looking for a knockout. Ronnie Mitchell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Song clinches up with Mitchell and pushes him back against the cage. Mitchell jumps guard but Song stands there with Mitchell around his waist. Mitchell gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Mitchell shoots in for a double leg but Song sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Song throws an overhand right that lands on Mitchell's shoulder, as Mitchell tries to avoid the shot. Song fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mitchell to the ground. Song is now in Mitchell's guard. Mitchell is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Song presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mitchell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mitchell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Song pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mitchell is keeping the position for now. Song is still trying to improve position. Mitchell wants to stand and escape but Song is having none of it. Mitchell wriggles free and stands up. Mitchell gets caught napping as Song dives in and scores a takedown. Mitchell manages to retain guard. Song trying to control the position from guard on top but Mitchell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mitchell is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A close second round but Ben Song will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Mitchell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Mitchell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mitchell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Song throws a right hand that Mitchell ducks under and follows up with a left that Mitchell also avoids with ease. Song throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mitchell was covering up waiting for the punch and Song finishes the takedown easily into guard. Mitchell pushes Song off and gets back to his feet.
Song has managed to clinch.
Song tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mitchell smiles and moves away.

Song takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mitchell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Song swivels and escapes. Song with the counter takedown but Mitchell avoids it easily. Song moves into the clinch. Mitchell tries to pull guard but Song forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Mitchell is trying to pull guard but Song turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Mitchell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Song avoiding damage.

Song pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Song gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mitchell pulls guard. Mitchell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Song manages to get himself to full guard.
Song is adopting a defensive guard. Mitchell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Song controlling the position. Mitchell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Song has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mitchell has managed to get both his arms back between Song's legs - danger averted. Mitchell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Song, up you get! Mitchell throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Song. Song just misses with a punch to the body.
Song gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mitchell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Song breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Song is defended easily by Mitchell. Song moves into the clinch. Mitchell is trying to pull guard but Song has him pressed against the cage. Song jumps guard.
Song wants to hit a switch here but Mitchell passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Song there! Song is working to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Song comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Song has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
