Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kent Fuentes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Stevenson! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson darts in and clinches Fuentes up against the cage. Stevenson scores with a nice hook to the head. Stevenson looking to stall.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Fuentes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fuentes feints and as Stevenson raises his hands in defense, Fuentes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Fuentes stays in close to Stevenson's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stevenson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Fuentes escapes and throws Stevenson's legs to the side, diving into side control! Fuentes cracks Stevenson with a big right hand but Stevenson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fuentes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Fuentes scores with punches from side control. Fuentes working the head with strikes. Fuentes landing strikes. Stevenson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fuentes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Check out the look on Fuentes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fuentes looks up at the clock and then as Stevenson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Fuentes smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Stevenson is letting Fuentes control him for a moment. Fuentes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Fuentes landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Fuentes controlling from side mount. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Fuentes working the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fuentes happy to just control the position for now. Fuentes cracks Stevenson with an elbow. That is naaassty. Fuentes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Stevenson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Fuentes connects with a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Stevenson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Fuentes lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stevenson down.
Fuentes gets to mount! Stevenson was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Fuentes lands a big elbow. Stevenson tries to hold on but Fuentes pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Fuentes cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Stevenson closes the distance and pushes Fuentes back into the cage. Stevenson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stevenson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Stevenson is trying to force a seperation but Fuentes has the dominant position. Fuentes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stevenson to keep the fight standing. Stevenson has a couple of punches blocked by Fuentes.
Fuentes pulls guard effortlessly. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fuentes is on top in guard.

Stevenson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Fuentes presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Fuentes with shots to the head and body - Stevenson looks very uncomfortable down there.

Kent Fuentes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Fuentes is in the full mount, landing strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! Stevenson swings wildly with an uppercut but Fuentes uses good head movement to avoid it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Stevenson scores with a shoulder strike.
