Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nam Ho ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pieter Daan Mostert! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Ho as Mostert shoots in. Mostert showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ho .
Mostert with the counter takedown but Ho avoids it easily. Mostert shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ho defends it nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ho stalks Mostert and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mostert's face. Mostert staggers backwards, shaken.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mostert shoots in and drives through. Ho sprawls well. Nam Ho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pieter Daan Mostert. Mostert dives in for a single leg takedown but Ho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Ho wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Mostert shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. It looked like Ho wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Mostert shoots for a takedown but Ho saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A little feinted left hand from Ho on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Mostert avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ho thows a left - swing and a miss! Nam Ho is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ho fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mostert manages to avoid it. A telegraphed right hand from Ho misses the target. Mostert throws a body punch but Ho moves out of range. A little feinted left hand from Ho on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ho looks to land a right hand but Mostert moved out of range. Mostert bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mostert creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ho tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mostert wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mostert is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Ho is trying to escape and Mostert transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Ho is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mostert! Very nice indeed!
