Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrell Mayo (ranked 23426 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sterling Johnson (ranked 5878 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darrell Mayo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sterling Johnson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mayo somewhat. Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
Mayo tries to counter with a takedown but Johnson is quick to defend against it. Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mayo manages to avoid it. Mayo feinted with a counter takedown. Johnson misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mayo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily. Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mayo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Mayo's guard. Mayo wriggles free and stands up. Decent striking displayed by Johnson there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Mayo is looking to improve his position.
Johnson controlling the action here. Johnson moves nicely into side control. Johnson working away. Johnson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mayo's shoulder. That is not cool. Mayo is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson lands a jab to Mayo's midsection. Johnson looking to score a takedown here. Mayo is defending well but Johnson drives through and ends up in Mayo's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Mayo is retaining full guard. Mayo is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Mayo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Johnson sitting in guard, not really doing much. It looks like Johnson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Johnson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mayo is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson stopping the sweep attempt from Mayo. Mayo working a defensive guard here.
Johnson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mayo's head. Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Johnson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Johnson is continuing to stall. Mayo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Mayo takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
It looks like Darrell Mayo has been cut. A swing and a miss from Johnson. Mayo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mayo gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darrell Mayo. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mayo fails with an attempt to clinch.
And Johnson tries to counter it with a takedown but Mayo pushes his down on his head and steps out. Johnson digs a good hook to Mayo's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sterling Johnson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Darrell Mayo's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mayo fails with the takedown. Mayo wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance. Johnson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Mayo avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mayo tries to pull guard but Johnson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Mayo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Johnson clinches with his opponent.

A battle for position here, against the cage. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Johnson is pressed up against the cage. Mayo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johnson down to the mat. Johnson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mayo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Johnson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Mayo is rocked! Johnson closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Mayo out cold! Mayo corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sterling Johnson!
