Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddie Alvarez struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Shields darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alvarez is staying active underneath Shields, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Shields has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Alvarez! Can he survive? No! He's out! Shields gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
