Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Klaus Holtzmann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Captain Marvel! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holtzmann looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Holtzmann shoots in and drives through. Marvel sprawls well. Marvel cracks Holtzmann with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Holtzmann will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klaus Holtzmann. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marvel with a body punch. A glancing blow. Holtzmann fails with the takedown letting Marvel counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marvel fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Marvel tests Holtzmann's chin there with a solid looking shot. Marvel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
It looks like Klaus Holtzmann has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holtzmann with a lazy takedown attempt and Marvel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Holtzmann is breathing heavily. Nice takedown defense from Marvel. No joy for Holtzmann on that attempt. Holtzmann fails with a takedown attempt. A nice side step and Marvel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Marvel scores with a shot to the body.
Marvel connects with a body shot that sends Holtzmann's belly button to the back. Holtzmann is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Marvel lands a glancing blow to the side of Holtzmann's head. Marvel connects with a looping right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marvel scores with a jab to the body. Marvel catches Holtzmann napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Holtzmann to the canvas!
Holtzmann is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Marvel throws a big right hand that misses. Oh Holtzmann is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Marvel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Marvel trying to stand up but can't free himself from Holtzmann's guard. Holtzmann seems to have got his legs back now. Marvel sitting in guard, not really doing much. Marvel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Marvel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Holtzmann can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marvel controls the pace. Marvel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holtzmann swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holtzmann controlling the position. Holtzmann is trying to control the position but Marvel postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Marvel stuffs the takedown attempt from Holtzmann. Holtzmann gets slowly back to his feet. Marvel connects with a nice looking jab.
Holtzmann takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Holtzmann darts in looking for a takedown but Marvel gets double underhooks and turns Holtzmann into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holtzmann is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Holtzmann shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Marvel counter with a right hand. Captain Marvel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A left lands for Marvel. Marvel scores with a nice right hand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Holtzmann. Marvel scores with a sloppy right hand. Holtzmann should have avoided that one. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Holtzmann shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marvel counters with a lovely straight right hand! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Captain Marvel dominated that round. The cut man is working on Klaus Holtzmann's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Holtzmann takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Marvel has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Holtzmann tries for a takedown but Marvel circles away easily and Marvel counters with a nice uppercut. Marvel connects with a crisp jab. Marvel scores with a body shot.
Holtzmann on the wrong end of a nice jab. Marvel drops his shoulder and cracks Holtzmann with a huge uppercut! Holtzmann goes down! Can Marvel finish him?
Klaus Holtzmann's cut is getting worse. Marvel has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Marvel wants to stand but Holtzmann is controlling his posture from full guard. Marvel throws a big elbow that misses. Marvel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holtzmann seems keen to control Marvel's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marvel looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Holtzmann is adopting a defensive guard. Holtzmann can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marvel controls the pace. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Holtzmann has his foot on Marvel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marvel works his way back into a safe position though. Holtzmann is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marvel wants to control from the top but Holtzmann keeps moving. Marvel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Holtzmann is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Holtzmann had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Marvel defends it easily. Holtzmann has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Marvel should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Holtzmann has tightened it up now! Marvel should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
