Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Shamrock (ranked 252 p4p, 31 weight class) and Ken Tanaka (ranked 1170 p4p, 142 weight class). Tank Shamrock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tank Shamrock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Tanaka! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shamrock swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tanaka throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shamrock on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Tank Shamrock has been cut. Tanaka looks to score with a jab to the body but Shamrock is just out of range. An attempted straight right counter from Shamrock misses the target. Shamrock moves into the clinch. A quick uppercut on the inside from Tanaka. Tanaka swings wildly with an uppercut but Shamrock uses good head movement to avoid it. Tanaka misses with a punch on the inside.
Shamrock prevents a body shot from Tanaka. Tanaka misses with some punches.
Tanaka taking a breather. Shamrock looks to throw an elbow but misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shamrock manages to break the clinch.
Ken Tanaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shamrock scores with a jab to the head.
Tanaka misses with a hook
and Shamrock counters with a nice right hand that sends Tanaka toppling to the canvas! Tanaka scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Shamrock finish him?! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tanaka feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shamrocks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Tanaka misses with a wild body shot. Shamrock getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka takes the fight into the clinch. Tanaka struggles to land a body shot inside as Shamrock controls his hands.

Tanaka gets underhooks to prevent Shamrock's takedown attempt.
Tanaka tries to throw a body punch but Shamrock avoids it by throwing Tanaka back against the cage. A body shot lands from Tanaka.

Tanaka lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Shamrock tries for a takedown but Tanaka manages to get underhooks.
Tanaka stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Shamrock is breathing heavily. Tanaka prevents a body shot from Shamrock. Tanaka scores with a hook to the body. Tanaka misses with a body punch.
Tanaka lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Tanaka tries a body shot but Shamrock blocks it.
Tanaka misses with a shot to the kidneys.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanaka makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Tank Shamrock's cut is getting worse. Shamrock goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tanaka prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tank Shamrock. That's going to take a lot out of him. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shamrock. Tanaka stalling.
Tanaka pushes Shamrock back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Tanaka lands a nice shot to the body. Tanaka lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tanaka doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Tanaka is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Tanaka gets through Shamrock's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Tanaka lands a shot to the body. Tanaka cracks Shamrock with a nice body shot. A nice right hand lands inside from Tanaka.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tanaka scores with a shoulder strike. Nice body punch from Tanaka - that landed with a thud.

Tanaka scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Tank Shamrock's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Tanaka just leaning against Shamrock, taking a breather. Stalling in the clinch from Tanaka.
A right hook to the body lands for Tanaka.
Tanaka is pushing Shamrock up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Tanaka lands a nice uppercut. Tanaka lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Shamrock or not. Tanaka has Shamrock pushed against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tanaka misses with a body punch.

Shamrock has a couple of punches blocked by Tanaka.
Tanaka stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Tanaka is struggling to control the position. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Ken Tanaka. Tanaka throws a hook but Shamrock avoids it easily. Shamrock ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A little feinted left hand from Shamrock on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ken Tanaka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A big left from Shamrock misses. Shamrock gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tanaka. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tanaka throws a lazy right hand but Shamrock sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Tanaka swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tanaka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shamrock moves away. Tanaka just misses with a punch to the body.
Shamrock throws an overhand right that lands on Tanaka's shoulder, as Tanaka tries to avoid the shot. Tanaka throws out a counter right but Shamrock avoids it with no problem. Tanaka clinches up with Shamrock and pushes him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ken Tanaka dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tank Shamrock's cut. That's time! Shamrock's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Shamrock tries for a takedown but Tanaka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tanaka ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Tanaka misses with a body punch
and Shamrock counters with a nice uppercut. Tanaka scores with a jab to the jaw. Tanaka throws out a powerful jab.
Jeez, Tank Shamrock's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. We've been told by Shamrock's head coaches at Private Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Tanaka jabs at Shamrock's body. Tanaka has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Shamrock slips a jab from Tanaka. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tanaka scores with a jab to the jaw.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tank Shamrock's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
