Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vicente Lafayette (ranked 57 p4p, 9 weight class) and Yancy Makaki Iii (ranked 204 p4p, 27 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vicente Lafayette! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yancy Makaki Iii! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Makaki Iii cracks the inside of Lafayette's front leg. Makaki Iii pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lafayette is out of range and Makaki Iii settles back down. Makaki Iii has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Lafayette is landing a low percentage of strikes. Makaki Iii dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Makaki Iii misses with a hook to the ribs.
Makaki Iii lands on the inside with an uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Lafayette. A short left from Makaki Iii. Lafayette misses with a short punch on the inside. Lafayette misses with a hook from the clinch. Makaki Iii fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Lafayette lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Makaki Iii tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Lafayette lands a left hand.
Makaki Iii prevents a body shot from Lafayette. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lafayette lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Makaki Iii wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Makaki Iii lands a right hand. Lafayette ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lafayette no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Lafayette has his foot on Makaki Iii's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Makaki Iii works his way back into a safe position though. Lafayette is looking for a triangle but Makaki Iii pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lafayette not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lafayette is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Makaki Iii defends well. Makaki Iii showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lafayette has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Makaki Iii can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lafayette is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lafayette has his foot on Makaki Iii's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Makaki Iii works his way back into a safe position though. Makaki Iii is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Lafayette is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Makaki Iii rolls with it to try and escape but Lafayette cranks on the arm and Makaki Iii is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
