The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Backman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Perkins scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Perkins swings around for an armbar but Backman sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Perkins's guard.
Perkins has his foot on Backman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Backman works his way back into a safe position though.

Perkins is trying to control but Backman manages to pass to mount!

It looks like Wesley Perkins has been cut.
Backman postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Perkins in real trouble here! The ref calls for Perkins to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
