Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshida Gomi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tokisjima Hakiyama! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomi moves into the clinch. Gomi jumps guard but Hakiyama stands there with Gomi around his waist. Gomi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The is referee keeping an eye on Gomi - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Hakiyama has had enough of the clinch but Gomi keeps him there for the moment. Hakiyama gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gomi.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hakiyama gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hakiyama tries to score a body lock takedown but Gomi shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Hakiyama is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gomi keeps control of Hakiyama as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Gomi fails to land the takedown. Gomi closes the distance and clinches up with Hakiyama, looking for a takedown. Gomi pushes Hakiyama against the cage but Hakiyama circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hakiyama throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Gomi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hakiyama throws a head kick but Gomi moves out of range.
Hakiyama tries to clinch but Gomi is having none of it. Hakiyama closes the distance looking to clinch and Gomi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Gomi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hakiyama throws a head kick that misses. Good leg kick by Gomi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Hakiyama throws a sloppy head kick and Gomi moves out of range easily. Hakiyama stuffs the takedown attempt from Gomi. Gomi gets slowly back to his feet. Gomi avoids the head kick by Hakiyama.
Gomi forces Hakiyama back against the cage and clinches. Gomi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gomi has Hakiyama pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hakiyama manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Hakiyama looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hakiyama smiles and moves away.
A head kick by Hakiyama misses so Gomi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gomi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hakiyama is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gomi, into his guard. Gomi controls Hakiyama momentarily but Hakiyama frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Yoshida Gomi will probably get the nod. That's time! Gomi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gomi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hakiyama but Hakiyama pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gomi looks for a takedown but Hakiyama sprawls well. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gomi. Gomi wants to control for a moment but Hakiyama uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Gomi wants to get back to full guard but Hakiyama has passed into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hakiyama controlling the pace for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gomi flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hakiyama is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Gomi is looking to get to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hakiyama stands up from mount. Strange move. Gomi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Gomi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gomi working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Yoshida Gomi will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Horrible takedown by Gomi or perhaps it was just good defense by Hakiyama which made him look bad. Gomi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hakiyama, pushing him back against the cage. Hakiyama prevents the takedown attempt.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Hakiyama in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. And that's the end of the fight! Yoshida Gomi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gomi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
