The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syndal slips a jab and a cross from Salvatore.
It seemed like Syndal was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Syndal stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvatore. Salvatore gets slowly back to his feet.
Syndal swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Salvatore drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Salvatore wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Syndal, who protects the arm well.
Syndal sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvatore is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Syndal sees it coming and defends easily.
Syndal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Salvatore is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Syndal has managed to free his arm - good work.

Salvatore takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Salvatore is trying to control the action in half guard but Syndal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Salvatore uses his free foot to push down on Syndal's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Syndal.

Salvatore is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Salvatore!
