Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Misha Collins (ranked 1163 p4p, 118 weight class) and Derui Pake (ranked 371 p4p, 41 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pake's choice of entrance music: Band Maid - Thrill. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Derui Pake was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Misha Collins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Derui Pake!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pake lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Pake moves out of range as Collins strikes.
Pake looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Collins throws a predictable looking body shot
and Pake counters with a three punch combo that has Collins backing up. Collins nods at Pake to acknowledge the strikes.

Pake throws a head kick that misses.
Pake connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Collins's hands.
Misha Collins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pake throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pake fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Collins.

Pake felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Pake takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Collins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pake, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Pake is looking for a sweep. Collins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Collins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pake with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Pake is staying active underneath Collins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Pake tries to kick Collins off but Collins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Pake is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Collins lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Collins throws a hook to the side of Pake's head but Pake sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pake throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pake darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice defenses there by Pake.
Collins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pake sprawls well. Pake wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Collins gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pake! But no joy.
Pake misses with a hook. Collins ducked under it nicely.
Collins goes for a double leg but Pake avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pake continues to drive forward.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Collins shoots for a double leg takedown but Pake sprawls well. He's pushed Collins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Collins is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Derui Pake seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Pake fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Collins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pake's guard.

Pake has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Collins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Pake avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Collins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pake manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Derui Pake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Pake is trying to control but can't.
Collins is looking to take a break and control but Pake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Collins is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pake can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pake is still in real trouble! Can Collins finish him?

A big strike lands for Collins! That's really hurt Pake and he's turned his back - Collins keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Collins jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
