The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huhrera clinches up with Nielsen and pushes him back against the cage.
Huhrera misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nielsen throws a punch but it's blocked by Huhrera .
Nielsen swings away with an uppercut that misses.

I was talking to Nielsen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Huhrera doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Huhrera tries to throw a body punch but Nielsen avoids it by throwing Huhrera back against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Nielsen fails to land.
Nielsen scores with a shoulder strike.
Nielsen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Huhrera 's elbow.
Nielsen has a couple of punches blocked by Huhrera .
Huhrera is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nielsen goes for a takedown attempt but Huhrera pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A quick step to the side and Nielsen tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nielsen fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Huhrera on the side of the head.
Julio Valeron Huhrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Huhrera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nielsen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Nielsen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Huhrera gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Huhrera is trying to trip Nielsen. He has hold of a leg but Nielsen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Huhrera persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

My spies in Private Training Center inform me that Huhrera has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Huhrera wants to finish this one by submission but Nielsen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Huhrera .

Huhrera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Huhrera is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nielsen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Nielsen is trying to escape the mount.
Nielsen is squirming around, avoiding Huhrera 's attempts to control the action.
Huhrera postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nielsen looks a forlorn figure.

Nielsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nielsen looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Huhrera has picked Nielsen up and slammed him! Nielsen can't keep hold of the triangle and Huhrera manages to pass to side control!

Nielsen stuffs the takedown attempt from Huhrera . Huhrera gets slowly back to his feet.
Nielsen throws a right hand that misses
and Huhrera counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nielsen throws a head kick but Huhrera moves out of range.
Horrible takedown attempt by Huhrera or perhaps it was just good defense by Nielsen, which made it look bad.
Nielsen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Nielsen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Huhrera closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nielsen's guard.

Huhrera is working to tighten his grip on Nielsen's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Nielsen has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Huhrera is really squeezing tight and eventually Nielsen passes out! Huhrera breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
