Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Carballo (ranked 22575 p4p, 778 weight class) and Reggie Grimdal (ranked 21831 p4p, 767 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Carballo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reggie Grimdal!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carballo gets tackled into the cage by Grimdal. Grimdal maintains the clinch.
Grimdal throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Grimdal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Carballo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Grimdal did well to prevent Carballo getting side control.
Carballo wants to free his trapped foot but Grimdal is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Carballo is controlling the pace.
Carballo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carballo moves into full mount! Grimdal won't be happy about that!
Carballo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Carballo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Grimdal closes the distance and pushes Carballo back into the cage.

Grimdal breaks the clinch.

It looks like Gustavo Carballo has been cut.

Grimdal breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carballo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Grimdal swivels and escapes.

Carballo is staying tight to Grimdal's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Carballo tries to advance to mount but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carballo slows the pace down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Reggie Grimdal will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Carballo tries to keep at a distance but Grimdal has taken the fight into the clinch.

Carballo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Grimdal uses from the top position.
Carballo is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Carballo.

Carballo continues to stall.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Grimdal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carballo, up you get!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Carballo clinches up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Grimdal just misses with a elbow thrown towards Carballo's brow.
Carballo using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Grimdal has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Grimdal lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Grimdal blocks an uppercut.
Grimdal throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Carballo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Grimdal comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
I was talking to Carballo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Carballo lands with a short shot to the head.

Carballo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Grimdal can't fight it off and eventually Carballo manages to take the fight to the floor. Grimdal looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Grimdal wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carballo manages to pass to side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carballo moves into full mount! Grimdal won't be happy about that!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Carballo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Grimdal wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Carballo.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Grimdal creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Carballo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Grimdal uses from the top position.

Carballo has Grimdal pulled in close to control his posture.
Carballo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carballo tries to get out of the position.
Carballo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grimdal is controlling him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Carballo tries for a takedown. No joy.
Carballo tries to pull guard but Grimdal holds him up against the cage and eventually Carballo drops back down to his feet.

Grimdal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Grimdal moves into range and clinches up with Carballo.
Carballo tries to pull guard but Grimdal forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Carballo blocks the elbow strike.

Carballo jumps guard and drags Grimdal to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Carballo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carballo pulls Grimdal in close to prevent any damage.
Carballo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carballo uses his free foot to push down on Grimdal's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Grimdal.

And that's the end of the fight!
Reggie Grimdal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Grimdal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
