PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Wuzz (ranked 644 p4p, 80 weight class) and Three Dog (ranked 1276 p4p, 146 weight class). Dog has chosen Fallout as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that David Wuzz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily David Wuzz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Wuzz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Three Dog!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wuzz tries to clinch up.
Dog moves away from the strike by Wuzz.
Wuzz is looking to clinch.
David Wuzz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wuzz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dog controls Wuzz momentarily but Wuzz frees himself.
Wuzz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dog swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dog has his foot on Wuzz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wuzz works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dog escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wuzz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wuzz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Dog wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Wuzz manages to pass to side control.

Dog manages to get to full guard.

Wuzz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Wuzz wants to control from the top but Dog keeps moving.
Dog wants to improve his position but instead Wuzz has moved into half guard.
Dog moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Dog is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Dog had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wuzz defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dog keeping full guard, as Wuzz tries to pass.
Wuzz is fighting to break Dog's control of his arms but Dog is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dog wants to sweep but no luck.
Wuzz trying to control the position from guard on top but Dog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dog wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dog is on top in guard.

Dog tries to free his leg and advance position but Wuzz is retaining full guard.
Wuzz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dog is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wuzz defends well.
Wuzz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dog looking for a sweep. Not yet Dog, not yet.
Dog keeping moving, preventing Wuzz from controlling successfully.

Wuzz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dog has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wuzz has managed to get both his arms back between Dog's legs - danger averted.

Wuzz postures up and lands a big shot to Dog's brow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dog tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dog preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Dog isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wuzz stacks Dog on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wuzz!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wuzz scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wuzz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
It seemed like Dog was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Dog counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dog throws a body kick that misses.
Wuzz changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Wuzz lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Dog backwards.
Wuzz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dog walks away with a smile on his face. Wuzz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Wuzz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dog throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wuzz. Dog does a little dance to reset his feet.
Three Dog is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Wuzz tries to clinch up
and Dog counters with a straight right hand.
A low kick from Dog is predictable there

and Wuzz counters with a single leg into guard. Dog didn't expect that.
Dog pulls Wuzz in to control the position.

Dog working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wuzz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wuzz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dog is not content to let Wuzz control the position.
Dog wants to improve his position but Wuzz is controlling well.
Wuzz wants to control but Dog is keeping him busy.
Wuzz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dog's head.
Dog wants to get back to full guard.
Wuzz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dog can do to turn this around?
Wuzz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wuzz prevents Dog from getting the reversal.
Dog is squirming around, avoiding Wuzz's attempts to control the action.
Dog is trying to escape the mount.
Dog is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Wuzz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dog can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wuzz forces the positional change into back control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dog takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Dog lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Wuzz getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Dog loads up on a big right hand but Wuzz slips the punch.
Wuzz checks a low kick from Dog.
Dog throws a lazy right hand but Wuzz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dog keeps the fight on the outside.

Dog uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wuzz.
Dog fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wuzz manages to avoid it.

and Dog connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wuzz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Wuzz shoots in for a takedown but Dog shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wuzz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dog is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wuzz, into his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

David Wuzz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dog throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wuzz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dog drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wuzz dives on top into guard.

Three Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wuzz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
