Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerrell Byrd (ranked 7634 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lew Zatorski (ranked 5876 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jerrell Byrd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lew Zatorski!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Byrd jumps guard and drags Zatorski to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Zatorski forces his way into half guard.
Zatorski trying to control from half guard but Byrd is working away.
Zatorski wants to stand but Byrd has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Byrd is not content to let Zatorski control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zatorski decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Zatorski gets a double leg takedown into Byrd's guard.
Zatorski advances to half guard.

Byrd looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Zatorski is trying to control the action in half guard but Byrd is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Zatorski decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Zatorski dives in and scores a takedown into Byrd's guard.
Zatorski wants to control from the top but Byrd keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zatorski might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Byrd haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Byrd looking for a guillotine here but Zatorski defends easily.

Byrd throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Zatorski has Byrd up against the cage in a clinch.

Byrd gets control of Zatorski's arms and successfully pulls guard. Byrd will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Byrd is looking for a triangle but Zatorski pushes his legs off easily.

Zatorski looking to sit in guard and control but Byrd gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Zatorski wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Zatorski has his foot on Byrd's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Byrd works his way back into a safe position though.

Zatorski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Zatorski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Byrd had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zatorski defends it easily.

Zatorski stands up and waves to Byrd to follow him.

Zatorski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Byrd napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Byrd is looking to regain half guard here but Zatorski keeps moving and retains side control.

Byrd is not content to let Zatorski control the position.
Zatorski laying and praying for a moment but Byrd takes advantage and regains half guard.
Byrd tries to roll over but Zatorski keeps him under control.

Zatorski wants to work for an arm triangle but Byrd is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zatorski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Byrd's head.

Zatorski gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zatorski takes the fight into the clinch.

Zatorski lands a takedown into guard.
Zatorski passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Zatorski has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Zatorski lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lew Zatorski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


A nice combination there by Zatorski.
Jerrell Byrd is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Byrd gets caught flat footed, as Zatorski shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Zatorski trying to control but Byrd is working from the bottom.
Byrd manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zatorski manages to get himself to full guard.

Zatorski isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Byrd stacks Zatorski on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Byrd!

Byrd throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Zatorski sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Zatorski is looking for a sweep. Byrd is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Byrd throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Byrd is thwarting Zatorski's attempts to control the position.
Zatorski is trying to stand up here but Byrd is controlling him well.

Byrd seems to be working for a kimura but Zatorski defends the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Zatorski shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Zatorski with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Zatorski is looking to take a break and control but Byrd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Byrd is pressing down on Zatorski's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Jerrell Byrd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lew Zatorski is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lew Zatorski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Zatorski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
