Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keven Walton (ranked 25175 p4p, 0 weight class) and German Hood (ranked 23447 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keven Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, German Hood!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hood throws a head kick but Walton moves out of range.

Hood closes the distance and pushes Walton back into the cage.
Hood tries to pull guard but Walton forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hood wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hood breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Walton drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hood controls Walton momentarily but Walton frees himself.

Walton stands up from Hood's guard - Walton perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Walton seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hood avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Walton.
Walton thows a huge punch but Hood dodges it nicely.
Walton not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Walton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Walton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Walton scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Walton slips a nice elbow through Hood's hands, connecting with Hood's forehead.
Hood is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Walton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Walton's back!
Walton tries to break free.
Walton rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Walton tries to get to full guard but Hood has control of the leg.
Walton is controlling Hood's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Walton works his way to full guard. Good work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Walton holds on and takes a little breather.
Hood chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hood throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hood throwing strikes but missing.
Walton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Walton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hood has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Walton tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hood landing some decent shots from guard.
Walton working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hood.
Walton looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hood misses with an uppercut.
Hood looks winded!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hood pushes Walton up against the cage in a clinch.

Walton jumps guard.
Hood working some strikes from top position.
Walton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hood is looking for a sweep. Walton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ground and pound from Walton.
Hood tries to get to full guard but Walton has control of the leg.

Walton is working for a submission of some sort.
Hood works his way to full guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keven Walton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hood moves into the clinch.

Walton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hood regains guard.
Walton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Walton with a flurry of punches that miss.
Walton throws a big elbow that misses.
Hood looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walton is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walton is in close to Hood's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Walton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hood's guard.
Walton working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hood avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Walton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
No joy there for Hood, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hood is breathing heavily.

Hood rushes Walton and presses him up against the cage.
Hood has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Walton after a bit of a struggle.

Walton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hood moves into the clinch.
Hood stalling the fight.
Hood has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Walton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hood misses with a punch on the inside.

Walton manages to pull guard.
Walton wants to sweep here but Hood controlling him for the moment.
Hood throws a strike but Walton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Walton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Walton closes the distance and clinches.

Hood jumps into guard, dragging Walton to the mat.
Keven Walton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walton lands a couple of digs.
Walton connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hood looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Walton puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walton scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Walton lands a nice short elbow.
Nice strikes from Walton there.
Hood has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walton is working away from the top position though.
Walton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hood with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hood wants to get back to full guard but Walton has mounted him!
Hood is working to get back to half guard.

Hood can't escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Walton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Walton with shots to the head and body - Hood looks very uncomfortable down there.

Walton working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Walton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hood can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hood really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Walton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Walton trying to control but Hood is having none of it.
BOOM! Walton connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Walton lands with some strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keven Walton dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Walton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hood's guard.
Walton cracks Hood with a solid left hand.
Walton scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hood is adopting a defensive guard.
Walton postures up and lands a big shot to Hood's brow.
Hood trying to keep a closed guard but Walton is proving a slippery customer.

Walton stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Walton closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hood's guard.
Walton distracts Hood with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walton postures up.
Walton is looking to work some ground and pound but Hood has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hood lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hood trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hood won't allow Walton to get back to his feet.
Walton avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hood trying to control the position from guard on top but Walton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hood is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Walton has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Hood is looking to defend but Walton has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Hood! Walton pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Hood taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Keven Walton!
