Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Rios! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Rylie! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rylie dives in and grabs Rios's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rios pushes down on Rylie's head and hops out. Rios with a lazy takedown attempt and Rylie counters with a nice uppercut. Rios scores with a takedown into Rylie's guard. Rylie scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Rylie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rios defends it nicely. Rios is looking for a counter combo. Rios shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rios was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rylie sneaks out the side door and pushes Rios away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nate Rios seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Rylie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rios wants a takedown but no success here.
Rylie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rios uses from the top position. Rios missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rylie trying to keep a closed guard but Rios is proving a slippery customer.
Rios scoring with punches to the head and body. Rios is looking to advance position but Rylie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Rios wants to hold on but Rylie pushes him away. Rios tries to reverse the position but Rylie maintains control. Rios throws a strike from the bottom but Rylie uses the opportunity to take his back. What can Rios do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Rios knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rylie on the ground. Rylie is trying to stick to Rios's back but Rios is turning into Rylie. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rylie's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rios. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rios with a flurry of punches that miss. Rios throws an elbow that misses. Rylie uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rios's guard. Nice move by Rylie! Rylie not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Rios looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rios looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rylie puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rios is looking to improve his position.
Rylie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rios's head. Rios has a hand on Rylie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Rylie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Rios on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rios tries to get out of the position. Rylie content just to control the position here. Rylie has hold of Rios's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rios manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rios is squirming around, avoiding Rylie's attempts to control the action. Rios avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rylie.
Rios is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rios tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rios is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Rylie dominated that round. That's time! Rios's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Rios fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rylie sprawls well initially but Rios persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rylie has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rios is on him like a limpet, forcing Rylie back against the cage. Rylie gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rios.

Rios has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rylie avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Rios. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rios is looking for a takedown. Rios tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rylie is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rios pulls him back up using the underhooks. Rylie works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Ryan Rylie has got the better of the ground game so far. Rios wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rylie is now in half guard. Rylie is trying to work for a kimura but Rios is defending well.

Rios nods at Rylie to acknowledge the strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rylie gets a clinch. Rios is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rylie is defending well. Rylie breaks from the clinch.

As Rylie looks to move away, Rios throws a big counter combo but Rylie just gets out of the way. Rios fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rylie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice sprawl there from Rios as Rylie shoots in. It looked like Rios was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Rylie throws a series of strikes that have Rios backpedaling.
Rios shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rylie as he avoids it easily. Rios closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Rios throws a strike but Rylie avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Rios trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Rylie manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rios misses with a takedown attempt - Rylie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rios shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rylie but Rylie pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rylie throws a sloppy head kick and Rios moves out of range easily. Rios keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rios shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rios was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rylie throws Rios to one side and escapes! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rios circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rylie shoots in and drives through. Rios sprawls well. Rios closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rylie did well to prevent Rios getting side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Rylie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rylie gets to his feet. Rios looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Ryan Rylie seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rylie tries for a takedown but Rios sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rios misses with a takedown attempt and Rylie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rylie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rios shoots and misses and Rylie counters with a lovely straight right hand! Rios misses with a takedown and Rylie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Rylie misses with a takedown attempt - Rios sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rios gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rylie counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Rylie has Rios up against the cage in a clinch.

Rios looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rylie has hold of Rios's hands but Rios slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nate Rios has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ryan Rylie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Rios is looking for a kimura here.
And that's the end of the fight! Ryan Rylie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rylie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
