PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Schultz (ranked 1905 p4p, 237 weight class) and Shawn Jones (ranked 2905 p4p, 342 weight class). Shawn Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shawn Jones!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Schultz.
Jones is looking to clinch but Schultz is avoiding it.

Schultz manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The referee is keeping an eye on Schultz - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Schultz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Schultz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Schultz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Schultz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schultz avoids it really well and circles away.
It appears Schultz was looking to counter with a kick there.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Schultz feints a jab promting Jones to slip. Schultz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jones slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
