PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kira Miyata (ranked 449 p4p, 50 weight class) and Nathan Wallace (ranked 876 p4p, 99 weight class). Miyata comes to the cage accompanied by Boa - Energetic. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kira Miyata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from Wallace.
Wallace avoids the body shot from Miyata.
Wallace has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Miyata goes for a double leg but Wallace avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wallace continues to drive forward.
Wallace drops his hands momentarily and Miyata takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Miyata throws a poor cross that misses
and Wallace counters with an outside leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Wallace.
Wallace fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Miyata has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Miyata fails to land the takedown.
Wallace appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Wallace paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Miyata throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wallace.
Miyata will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Wallace makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Miyata really felt that one!

Miyata closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wallace did well to prevent Miyata getting side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Miyata shoots for a takedown but Wallace saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Wallace throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Miyata rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wallace moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Wallace takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Miyata throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wallace.

Wallace connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Miyata uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wallace.
Wallace works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wallace takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wallace cracks Miyata with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Wallace counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wallace throws the kick towards the body but Miyata avoids it.
Miyata throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wallace.
Nice uppercut lands for Wallace. That snapped Miyata's head back.

and Wallace counters with a stiff right hand.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wallace tries a quick counter leg kick but Miyata is wise to it.
Wallace fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Miyata looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Miyata drops his hands momentarily and Wallace takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Wallace scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Miyata throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wallace keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Miyata.
Miyata has a takedown stuffed.
Wallace has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wallace swings for the body but Miyata moves out of range.
Miyata was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Miyata throws a lazy right hand but Wallace sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Wallace avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wallace misses with a left hand
and Miyata counters with a nice uppercut.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Miyata crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Wallace - the referee stops the clock and Miyata gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Wallace. Miyata manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Wallace bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Donk. Miyata catches Wallace right on the button with a cross.
A slapping leg kick lands for Wallace.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miyata takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Miyata is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wallace. Miyata does a little dance to reset his feet.
Miyata feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wallaces jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Kira Miyata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wallace catches Miyata with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Miyata moves forwards but Wallace connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Wallace fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Wallace scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Nathan Wallace comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wallace winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
