Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Renaldo Slater (ranked 5519 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Logan (ranked 6014 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Logan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Renaldo Slater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Logan! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Logan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Slater defends well and Logan ends up having to push Slater into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Logan rushes Slater and presses him up against the cage. Logan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Logan fails with the takedown and Slater counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Slater has picked Logan up - he's going for a ride! Slater dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Slater sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Logan defending well though. Logan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Slater will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's one minute gone in the round. Slater thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Logan's head. Slater scoring with strikes to the body and head. Logan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slater is working away from the top position though. Logan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Slater. Slater looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Logan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Slater missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Slater takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Slater really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Slater tries to stand and escape but Logan is controlling the position. Slater scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Logan trying to control but Slater postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Slater slips a nice elbow through Logan's hands, connecting with Logan's forehead. Slater thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Logan wants to get back to his feet. Slater lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Slater working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Slater is trying to work for a kimura but Logan is defending well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Slater missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Slater is nestled in close to Logan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Slater lands a nice short elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Slater slips a nice elbow through Logan's hands, connecting with Logan's forehead. Slater looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. Logan looks a forlorn figure.
Slater has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Slater has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Logan's face.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Slater cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Renaldo Slater dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Logan shoots in for a double leg but Slater sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Slater stuffs the takedown attempt from Logan. Logan gets slowly back to his feet. Slater is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Logan can do to turn this around? Logan closes the distance and clinches up with Slater, looking for a takedown. Logan pushes Slater against the cage but Slater circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Slater half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Renaldo Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Logan. Logan moves in looking to clinch but Slater pushes him off. Slater avoids the head kick by Logan.
Slater changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Logan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Slater was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Logan throws a sloppy head kick and Slater counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Logan fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Logan is breathing heavily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Logan is defended easily by Slater.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater closes this distance looking for a takedown but Logan circles away. Slater keeps the fight on the outside. Logan leaves Slater with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Slater clinches with his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Logan tries to clinch and Slater counters with a nice uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Logan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Slater tries to counter with a takedown but Logan is quick to defend against it. Logan rushes Slater and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Slater jumps guard but Logan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Slater wants to take the fight to the mat but Logan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Logan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown attempt by Logan or perhaps it was just good defense by Slater, which made it look bad. Slater swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Logan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Slater but Slater pushes him off and we're back to square one. Slater is trying hard to land a takedown here. Logan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Slater looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Logan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Slater blocks the elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Slater ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Slater no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Slater tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Logan wants to control from the top but Slater keeps moving. Slater wants to sweep here but Logan controlling him for the moment. Logan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Slater being controlled here, momentarily. Slater has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Slater's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Renaldo Slater will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Slater wants to clinch. Slater keeps the fight on the outside. Logan throws a body shot but no joy. Slater circles away from the clinch attempt and Slater counters with a single leg into guard. Logan didn't expect that. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Slater distracts Logan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Logan wants to sweep but no luck. Slater missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Slater content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Slater postures up and lands a big shot to Logan's brow. Logan looking to control.

There ya go! Slater stands up over Logan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Renaldo Slater overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Slater postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Slater gets to his feet. Logan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Slater misses the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Logan moves into the clinch. Logan tries for a takedown but Slater manages to get underhooks.

Logan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Logan tries to close the distance and clinch but Slater swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Crunch! Logan slams his shin into Slater's torso. Logan has his takedown stuffed and Slater counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Logan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Logan misses with a takedown and Slater counters with a takedown into side control. Logan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Renaldo Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Logan. Logan has his takedown stuffed and Slater counters by moving into the clinch. Slater jumps guard but Logan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Logan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Slater blocks it with crossed arms. Slater tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Logan just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slater tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Logan smiles and moves away.
Slater swats away the attempt to clinch by Logan. Logan wants to clinch and Slater counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Slater throws a big elbow that misses. Slater stands up over Logan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Slater throwing strikes but missing. Slater postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Paul Logan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Renaldo Slater is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Logan tries to strike from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Renaldo Slater showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slater, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
