Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernie Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Hernandes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandes has chosen IRA - Ikar as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ernie Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Vitor Hernandes!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries to clinch up.
Mason shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hernandes as he jumps to the side.
Nice sprawl there from Mason as Hernandes shoots in.
Hernandes has closed the distance and engaged Mason in a clinch.
Mason is looking to break free of the clinch but Hernandes has double underhooks.
Mason pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mason tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hernandes counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Mason down! Hernandes is looking to finish but Mason is intelligently defending himself.
Mason is rocked!
Hernandes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Oh Mason is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hernandes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mason seems to have got his legs back now.
Hernandes trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom.

Mason closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hernandes to the mat! Hernandes manages to get full guard.

Mason seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hernandes for as long as he can get away with.

Hernandes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mason gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hernandes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mason!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mason looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hernandes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mason tries to avoid it but Hernandes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mason to the ground. Mason escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ernie Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitor Hernandes.

Mason is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Hernandes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mason's waist but Mason gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hernandes off to one side.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Hernandes counters with a good, hard body kick but Mason shrugs it off.

Hernandes wants to stand and escape but Mason is having none of it.

Mason decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hernandes to his feet.

Hernandes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ernie Mason will probably get the nod.
