Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Mercado (ranked 6535 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Scarmozzino (ranked 6056 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Mercado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier Scarmozzino! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scarmozzino dives in for a single leg takedown but Mercado sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Mercado closes the distance and clinches. Mercado has a couple of punches blocked by Scarmozzino.
Mercado scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mercado throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Scarmozzinos head. Mercado misses with some punches.
Mercado fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mercado lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Mercado misses with a hook from the clinch. Mercado has a couple of punches blocked by Scarmozzino.
Scarmozzino successfully pulls guard.
Mercado wanted to stand there but Scarmozzino had control of the position. Scarmozzino tries to land a sweep but no joy. Scarmozzino has Mercado pulled in close to control his posture. Mercado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mercado has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Scarmozzino is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scarmozzino is trying to keep Mercado in close.
Scarmozzino wants to sweep but no luck. Mercado avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Scarmozzino is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Scarmozzino perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Scarmozzino has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Mercado wants to improve his position but Scarmozzino is controlling well.
Scarmozzino performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Mercado is not content to let Scarmozzino control the position. Scarmozzino is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mercado defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scarmozzino thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mercado's head. Scarmozzino wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mercado keeps working. Mercado knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scarmozzino on the ground. Scarmozzino thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Scarmozzino has closed the distance and engaged Mercado in a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mercado as Scarmozzino tries to tie him up. A head punch on the inside from Mercado fails to land. A short uppercut from Mercado. Scarmozzino blocks a punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercado lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Scarmozzino backwards. Scarmozzino drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mercado pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mercado moves into range and clinches up with Scarmozzino. Scarmozzino tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gabriel Mercado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xavier Scarmozzino. Mercado has a couple of punches blocked by Scarmozzino.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Scarmozzino. Mercado tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Scarmozzino blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Mercado lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Mercado lands a body punch. Scarmozzino looks winded! Mercado works on Scarmozzino's body with a couple of short punches. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mercado tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. This has been an exciting period of action! Mercado scores with a nice hook to the head. A nice left hand lands by Mercado.

Scarmozzino is rocked! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gabriel Mercado dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mercado throws a hook but Scarmozzino blocks it. Scarmozzino moves away from the strike by Mercado. Mercado moves into the clinch successfully.

Mercado lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Scarmozzino is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercado finish him? Mercado creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Scarmozzino's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Scarmozzino drops to his knees and Mercado pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gabriel Mercado!
