Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elijah David (ranked 2399 p4p, 257 weight class) and Glen Taylor (ranked 3814 p4p, 382 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elijah David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Glen Taylor!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor doesn't manage to clinch there - David circles away.

Taylor pushes David up against the cage in a clinch.
David comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Taylor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
David steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Taylor.
David is looking for a counter combo.
David lands a jab-cross combination.
David throws a body punch but Taylor moves out of range.
Taylor tries to clinch up.
Taylor has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

David tries to keep at a distance but Taylor has taken the fight into the clinch.
Taylor is trying to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Taylor.
David lands a shot to the body.

David has picked Taylor up - he's going for a ride! David dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Taylor wants to improve his position but David is controlling well.

Taylor is refusing to be controlled, as David sits in half guard.

Taylor is adopting a defensive guard.
David throws a strike but Taylor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

David looking to hit a scissor sweep but Taylor is one step ahead there.
David is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Taylor wants to control but David is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Taylor is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but David is staying active.

David thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Taylor's head.
David throwing shots but Taylor is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor is staying active underneath David, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Elijah David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
David throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
David swats away the attempt to clinch by Taylor.
Taylor fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Taylor clinches up with David and pushes him back against the cage.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
David tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Taylor swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Taylor gets underhooks to prevent David's takedown attempt.
Taylor throws a punch but it's blocked by David.
David lands an uppercut.
David scores with a nice hook to the head.
Taylor misses with a short punch on the inside.

Taylor can't find room to land a body shot as David controls the action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elijah David dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


David looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
David displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Taylor throws out the jab.
David is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Taylor can do to turn this around?
David tries for a takedown but Taylor sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

David bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
The fighters circle momentarily. Taylor darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

As David backs off Taylor throws a huge counter combo but David manages to avoid it all.

Taylor throws a body punch but David moves out of range.
Taylor moves in looking to clinch but David pushes him off.
Taylor misses with a straight left.
Taylor doesn't manage to clinch there - David circles away.

Taylor lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
David throws an elbow but it's blocked.
I was talking to David's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
David swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Taylor scores with a shot to the side of David's head.
Taylor presses David against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
David misses with a punch on the inside.
David lands a damaging elbow.
A nice left hand lands by Taylor.
Taylor misses with a hook to the ribs.
David goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, David creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
David misses with a shot to the kidneys.
David pushes off an throws an elbow but Taylor leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Taylor has a couple of punches blocked by David.
David misses with an elbow over the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taylor goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

David throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Taylor avoids the elbow strike from David, against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Taylor.
David throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
David pushes off an throws an elbow but Taylor leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Taylor breaks from the clinch.
David dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Taylor. That did some damage!
Taylor lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Taylor closes the distance looking to clinch
and David counters with a left and a right that stings Taylor.
David lands with a kick to the temple. Taylor shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Taylor is rocked!

David throws a head kick but Taylor moves out of range.
Nice shot lands for Taylor.

Taylor is still on wobbly legs! Can David finish him?
Taylor thows a left - swing and a miss!
David looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but David paws at him with a jab and circles away.
David walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Taylor drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! David swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Taylor's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Elijah David!
In defeat, Glen Taylor stepped up to the mic, saying 'Fuck all you bitches!'.
