Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Chico Grande (ranked 227 p4p, 31 weight class) and Andre Souza (ranked 5518 p4p, 396 weight class). Grande comes to the cage accompanied by Dead By Dawn by Deicide . Souza has chosen X- Gon Give it to ya as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza walks into a straight right hand from Grande.
Grande lands with a thumping leg kick.
Grande defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Souza.
Grande jabs Souza right on the nose. Souza blinks but takes it well.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Grande, right into the meat.
Souza looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Souza has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Souza fails to land the takedown.

Souza is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grande knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Souza dives in and grabs Grande's left leg, looking for a takedown. Grande pushes down on Souza's head and hops out.

Souza darts in looking for a takedown but Grande gets double underhooks and turns Souza into the cage.

Souza throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Grande was covering up waiting for the punch and Souza finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Souza drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Grande manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Souza has Grande in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grande stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Grande takes the fight into the clinch.
Grande lands a left hand that snaps the head of Souza backwards.
Grande lands an uppercut.
Souza is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Grande pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Grande swings wildly with an uppercut but Souza uses good head movement to avoid it.
Grande prevents a takedown attempt there.
Souza drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Grande gets through Souza's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Souza wants to work for an arm triangle but Grande is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Souza is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Grande kicks off Souza and gets to his feet.
Grande tests Souza's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Souza shoots in looking for a takedown but Grande manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Souza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Grande feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Souza is trying hard to land a takedown here. Grande sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Grande moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Grande, as that shot connected.

Souza moves forwards but Grande connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Grande lands a leg kick that knocks Souza off balance momentarily.
Grande buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Grande cracks Souza with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Souza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Grande as he avoids it easily.
Souza ducks under a wild hook from Grande.
Grande is looking to slow Souza down with leg kicks.
No luck for Souza with that takedown attempt.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Souza has a takedown stuffed.
Grande is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Grande smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Grande's corner calls for a 1-2. Grande obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Souza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grande is fending him off so far but Souza persists. Nope, Grande circles away and we're back to standing.

Souza manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Grande on his heels. He'll look to pass Grande's guard now, I'm sure.
Souza looks winded!

Souza drops back looking for a leg! Grande is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Grande manages to kick Souza off! Souza jumps back into Grande's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Souza takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Grande stuffs the takedown.
Souza tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grande swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Souza gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Grande.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grande connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Souza's hands.
Souza is still on wobbly legs! Can Grande finish him?
Souza throws a wild hook but Grande just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Souza gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Grande raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
