PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kim Duk Koo (ranked 4861 p4p, 489 weight class) and Alan Valerdi (ranked 3743 p4p, 401 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kim Duk Koo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kim Duk Koo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kim Duk Koo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alan Valerdi!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valerdi tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Duk Koo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Valerdi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Valerdi tries for a takedown but Duk Koo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Valerdi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Valerdi landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Valerdi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Valerdi working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Valerdi is looking to take a break and control but Duk Koo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Duk Koo's coaches at LOD: BAD BOY MMA have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Valerdi has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Duk Koo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valerdi on the ground.

Valerdi thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Duk Koo is trying to escape the mount.
Duk Koo is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Valerdi misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Duk Koo suckers Valerdi into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Duk Koo is now in Valerdi's guard!
Valerdi is trying to keep Duk Koo in close.

Duk Koo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Valerdi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Valerdi is looking to stand back up but Duk Koo counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Valerdi.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Duk Koo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Valerdi tries to move into range but Duk Koo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim Duk Koo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Valerdi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Valerdi is still on wobbly legs! Can Duk Koo finish him?
Duk Koo fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Valerdi to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Valerdi looks to clinch but Duk Koo throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Valerdi taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Kim Duk Koo!
Kim Duk Koo tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
