Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Liriano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flash Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flash Gordon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nelson Liriano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Flash Gordon!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liriano throws the left hand but Gordon avoids the punch easily.
Liriano misses with a low kick as Gordon jumps back.

Gordon takes the fight into the clinch.
Liriano lands a right hand.
Gordon landing knees to the head.


It looks like Nelson Liriano has been cut.

Gordon is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Liriano can't fight it off and eventually Gordon manages to take the fight to the floor. Liriano looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gordon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

I looks like Gordon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Liriano wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Gordon swings around for an armbar but Liriano sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gordon's guard.

Gordon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gordon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gordon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Liriano throws the left hand but Gordon avoids the punch easily.

Gordon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Gordon tries to clinch there but Liriano circles away.
Liriano throws a lazy right hand but Gordon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nelson Liriano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gordon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Liriano has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Liriano is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Gordon has taken his back.

Gordon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Liriano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gordon, into his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Liriano is in close to Gordon's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Flash Gordon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Liriano fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gordon manages to avoid it.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Flash Gordon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A slow jab from Liriano misses its intended target.
Liriano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

I've got Gordon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
