The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Baird is defended easily by Ibragimov.
Ibragimov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Baird tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ibragimov swivels and escapes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baird could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ibragimov is fighting to break Baird's control of his arms but Baird is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Baird looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ibragimov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Baird has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ibragimov is trying to maintain the position but Baird is very close to passing his half guard.

Baird stands up over Ibragimov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Ibragimov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ibragimov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
