Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bone (ranked 521 p4p, 73 weight class) and Ray Malenko (ranked 593 p4p, 81 weight class). Bone comes to the cage accompanied by You'll Never Walk Alone. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bone! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Malenko! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bone throws the kick towards the body but Malenko avoids it. Malenko blocks a low kick nicely. Malenko appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Bone misses with a straight right. Bone connects with a leg kick. Malenko looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Bone misses with a lunging right hand
and Malenko counters with a straight right hand. Bone feints and as Malenko raises his hands in defense, Bone changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Malenko keeping full guard, as Bone tries to pass. Bone is working hard here to advance position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Malenko keeping moving, preventing Bone from controlling successfully. Bone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Malenko is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malenko pulls Bone in to control the position. Bone with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Malenko trying to keep a closed guard but Bone is proving a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bone misses the jab. Bone pushes Malenko up against the cage in a clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Malenko. Malenko is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bone to keep the fight standing. Malenko goes for a takedown attempt but Bone pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bone staying out of range there. Bone was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Bone connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Bone takes the fight into the clinch. Bone misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Malenko is trying to pull guard but Bone has him pressed against the cage. Joe Bone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Malenko. Bone throws a punch but it's blocked by Malenko. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Malenko has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Malenko tries a body shot but Bone blocks it.

Bone lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Malenko backwards. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Malenko's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Bone can't find room to land a body shot as Malenko controls the action.
Malenko stalls. Bone tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Malenko's elbow. Bone lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Bone scores with a shoulder strike. Malenko lands with a short head shot on the inside. Malenko tries to score a body lock takedown but Bone shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Malenko leaning his opponent against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bone lands a hook to the side of the head. Bone makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Bone tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Bone works on Malenko's body with a couple of short punches. Bone scores with a shot to the side of Malenko's head. Malenko is working Bone over against the cage. Bone misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Malenko trying to control but Bone is working from the bottom. Bone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Malenko manages to get himself to full guard.
Bone's corner is telling him to maintain position. Malenko is trying to control the position but Bone postures up. Bone advances position into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Bone dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Bone defending well as Malenko loads up on a big left hand. Bone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Malenko throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Bone uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Malenko.
Malenko scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Malenko takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Malenko works the jab nicely. Malenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bone moves away. Bone swings away with a leg kick that misses. Bone misses the shot to the body. Bone slips a jab and a cross from Malenko.

Malenko scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bone doesn't seem bothered though. Bone looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bone comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Malenko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Malenko appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Malenko takes a shot right to the bread basket. Malenko lunges at Bone with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bone's hand. Bone throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Malenko throws out a powerful jab. Nice straight punches there by Bone. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bone. Malenko throws a jab but it's blocked by Bone. Bone takes a shot right to the bread basket. Bone tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Malenko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Malenko swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Malenko digs a good body shot into Bone's ribs. Bone throws a shot from downtown. Malenko moves away and avoids it. Bone defending well as Malenko loads up on a big left hand. Malenko missing with a left hand there. Bone was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ray Malenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Malenko throws a body shot but no joy. Bone looks for the body kick but Malenko saw that one coming. Malenko drops his hands momentarily and Bone takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Bone drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Malenko swings and misses with a shot to the body and Bone makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Bone dives in for a single leg takedown but Malenko sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Bone. That's going to take a lot out of him. Malenko fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Malenko on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bone. Bone obviously looking to wear him down.
Bone misses with a low kick as Malenko jumps back. Bone waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Malenko. Nice body punch from Malenko. Bone throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Malenko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Malenko lands a glancing blow to the side of Bone's head. Malenko's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Malenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Bone lands a left hand.
Malenko jumps guard but Bone stands there with Malenko around his waist. Malenko gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Malenko tries to stall but Bone uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Malenko swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ray Malenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Malenko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
