Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Odell Paquette! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khalil Mack! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paquette lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Paquette throws a looping overhand right but Mack ducks down to avoid it. Paquette smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Paquette throws a hook but Mack blocks it. Mack throws an overhand right that lands on Paquette's shoulder, as Paquette tries to avoid the shot. Paquette uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mack. Paquette lands a jab to the nose. Mack moves forwards but Paquette connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mack is rocked! A looping hook to the body misses from Mack. Paquette does a little dance to reset his feet. Mack is still on wobbly legs! Can Paquette finish him? Paquette scores with a three punch combo!
Paquette waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mack. Mack is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Paquette throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mack is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Paquette misses with an attempted mid kick.
Mack throws a right hand that Paquette ducks under and follows up with a left that Paquette also avoids with ease. Paquette walks into a stiff left hand from Mack. Mack seems to have recovered his senses. Paquette scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paquette misses with a lunging right hand
and Paquette takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Mack throws a right and a left that both miss. Mack lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Paquette circles away quickly and effectively. Paquette rushes Mack and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mack has had enough of the clinch but Paquette keeps him there for the moment. Paquette lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Mack takes a shot to the head. Paquette lands a shoulder strike. Paquette breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mack just misses with a punch to the body.
Mack throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mack misses with a two punch combination.
Mack throws out a loose jab but Paquette uses good head movement to avoid it. Mack uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Paquette has time to react. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paquette moves out of range as Mack strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mack misses with an uppercut. Mack throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Paquette counters with a beautiful punch that sends Mack to the canvas! Paquette tries to free his leg and advance position but Mack is retaining full guard. Paquette would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mack has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Paquette has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Paquette lands a body punch in the clinch. Mack has had enough of the clinch but Paquette keeps him there for the moment. Paquette has Mack pressed against the cage, preventing Mack from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Mack takes a shot to the head. Paquette breaks the clinch.
Mack tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Paquette misses with a hook. Mack throws the left hand but Paquette avoids the punch easily. Paquette walks into a left hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paquette with a hook. Paquette is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Paquette misses with an uppercut. Mack saw that one coming. Paquette moves away from the strike by Mack. Paquette throwing a counter right hand but Mack manages to avoid it. Paquette works Mack's body with a nice hook. Mack throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mack's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Paquette connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mack scrambles back to his feet. Jab by Paquette. Mack throws the left hand but Paquette avoids the punch easily. Mack throws a hook but Paquette avoids it easily. Mack scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Paquette misses the jab. Nice straight punches there by Mack. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mack. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Paquette throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mack sees it coming and avoids it easily. Paquette lands a head kick. Mack smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Paquette slips a straight right by Mack.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mack misses with a series of wild punches.
Paquette moves into the clinch. Mack wants to get back to striking at distance but Paquette won't allow it.
Paquette lands a hook that snaps the head of Mack backwards. Mack tries to break the clinch but Paquette is controlling the position. Paquette lands a shoulder strike. Paquette breaks the clinch.
Mack misses with a double jab
and Paquette counters with a body kick. Paquette clinches with his opponent.
Paquette prevents Mack from breaking the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Paquette prevents Mack from breaking the clinch. Paquette's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mack takes one on the button. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Paquette. Mack shrugs it off though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Odell Paquette dominated that round. That's time! Paquette's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mack throws a hook to the side of Paquette's head but Paquette sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mack misses the shot to the body. Paquette uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Paquette throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mack counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mack lands a body shot.
Mack throws a nice looking combination but Paquette bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mack connects with a good right hand that stumbles Paquette. Paquette circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Paquette connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Mack covering up! Paquette comes in with a big uppercut and Mack goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Odell Paquette!
