Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lowell Dixon (ranked 7313 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Lawler (ranked 3886 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lowell Dixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Lawler! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dixon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Lawler tries to kick Dixon off in order to stand up. Dixon Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dixon stands up and beckons Lawler to his feet. Nice uppercut lands for Lawler. That snapped Dixon's head back.
It looks like Lowell Dixon has been cut. Dixon drives through with a takedown into Lawler's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Dixon stays in close to Lawler's body and controls the position. Lawler is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dixon is controlling him. Lawler has his foot on Dixon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dixon works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lawler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dixon is aware though and is defending well. Lawler wants to get back to his feet but Dixon is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Dixon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lawler scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Lawler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lawler shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dixon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Lawler passes Dixon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dixon manages to get to full guard.
Dixon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lawler. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Dixon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lawler is controlling him. Dixon keeping moving, preventing Lawler from controlling successfully. Dixon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Dixon is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lawler dives into side control.
Lawler is trying to get an arm triangle but Dixon is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lawler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lawler goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dixon has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lawler but great work by Dixon. Dixon looks up at the clock and then as Lawler takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Dixon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Dixon prevents Lawler from escaping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dixon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Check out the look on Dixon's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lawler is trying to get back to his feet. Dixon lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lawler sneaks out the side door and pushes Dixon away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Lawler scores with a jab to the head.
Lawler cracks Dixon with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Dixon falls to his knees and Lawler doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Lawler! A relieved looking Carlos Lawler thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
