Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Murphy Brown (ranked 1422 p4p, 166 weight class) and Justin Alvarez (ranked 2182 p4p, 234 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Alvarez's choice of entrance music: Victory by Puff Daddy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Murphy Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Justin Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Brown.
A punch lands to the side of Brown 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Alvarez misses with a leg kick
and Brown counters by clinching up.
Brown misses with a body punch.
Alvarez scores with a shot to the side of Brown's head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Brown.
A left hand lands to the body for Brown.
Alvarez can't break the clinch.
Alvarez is trying to break free.
Alvarez swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Brown.
Alvarez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alvarez connects with a single shot there.
Brown moves into range and clinches up with Alvarez.
Brown tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Brown doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Alvarez is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brown has Alvarez pressed against the cage, preventing Alvarez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Brown lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Brown gets through Alvarez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A frustrated look appears on Alvarez's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Brown pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Alvarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alvarez.
Alvarez misses with a looping left.
Alvarez throws a nice looking combination but Brown bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Brown has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Brown there as he acknowledges the shot.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alvarez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brown checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brown throws out a powerful jab.
Brown connects with a body shot that sends Alvarez's belly button to the back.
Alvarez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alvarez lands with a good body shot.

Alvarez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Alvarez looks to land a right hand but Brown moved out of range.
Brown keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Brown seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Brown takes one to the chin there.
Brown pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Alvarez back to the cage. Brown follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Alvarez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Alvarez moves forwards but Brown connects with a nice, crisp jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brown misses with a hook to the body
and Alvarez scores with a counter punch that sends Brown to the canvas! Alvarez smells blood - he's punishing Brown with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Brown has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justin Alvarez!
After the fight, Justin Alvarez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
