The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adama walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
It looks like William Adama has been cut. Nowak is looking to clinch. Nowak pushes Adama up against the cage in a clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Nowak. Adama tries to pull guard but Nowak won't allow it.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Adama is trying desperately to improve position. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nowak walks away with a smile on his face. Adama gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Horrible takedown by Adama or perhaps it was just good defense by Nowak which made him look bad. Jan Nowak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nowak throws a left that rocks Adama and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Nowak dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Adama regain composure!

That is not cool. Adama manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Nowak keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Adama drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nowak manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Adama has Nowak in his guard. Nowak is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nowak in particular looking to stall. Adama is trying to get back to full guard. Nowak blocks the strikes from Adama.

Adama strikes from the bottom but Nowak takes advantage and advances to full mount! Jan Nowak is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nowak wants to control the pace but Adama is squirming around nicely.
