The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Allen gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Allen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Russell after a bit of a struggle.
Russell is looking to take this one to the mat.
Russell wants a takedown but no success here.
Russell is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Allen is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rome Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Russell wants to get back to striking at distance but Allen won't allow it.
