Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elwood Blair! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aydan Rolph! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Francis DeMontford and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rolph misses with a double jab.
Blair feinted there with a counter leg kick. Blair darts in looking for a takedown but Rolph gets double underhooks and turns Blair into the cage. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Rolph. Blair shrugs it off though. Rolph drives through and clinches with Blair against the cage.
Rolph tightens his grip and picks Blair up, before dumping him to the ground. Blair manages to land in guard. Blair keeping moving, preventing Rolph from controlling successfully. Blair is looking for a triangle but Rolph pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Blair holds on and takes a little breather. Blair wants to sweep but no luck. Blair is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rolph pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blair is keeping the position for now. Rolph controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Blair is pulling down on Rolph's head to control his posture. Blair trying to control the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Blair keeps the fight on the outside. Blair takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Blair gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Blair pulls Rolph in to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rolph cracks Blair with a solid left hand. Rolph trying to control the position from guard on top but Blair is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Blair throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Blair is breathing heavily. Blair trying to keep a closed guard but Rolph is proving a slippery customer.
Rolph controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Blair trying to control the position here. Blair is trying to hold Rolph in close to prevent damage but Rolph has managed to pass into half guard.
Rolph is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blair is doing well to control the position and prevent Rolph from advancing to side control. Rolph controlling the action here. Rolph is trying to control the action in half guard but Blair is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rolph prevents Blair from improving his position. Rolph drops an elbow to the side of Blair's head. Rolph decides to stand and escape the position. Rolph shoots in and bounces Blair off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Rolph is standing up over Blair. Blair looks to escape but Rolph dives into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rolph moves into full mount! Rolph is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Rolph!
