Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darren Compton (ranked 5813 p4p, 616 weight class) and Phil Cohen (ranked 5636 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Cohen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darren Compton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Cohen! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cohen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Compton is looking to control Cohen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Compton avoid being mounted? Compton has a hand on Cohen's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cohen takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Cohen looking to control but Compton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Compton is trying to escape the mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Compton wants to hold on but Cohen pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cohen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Compton is desperately trying to improve his position but Cohen has a good base and remains in mount. Compton tries to hold on but Cohen postures up. Compton working to try and regain half guard.
Cohen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Compton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Cohen landing strikes from the mount and Compton is in trouble! Compton is looking to improve his position but Cohen isn't that keen on the idea. Cohen landing strikes from the mount. Cohen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Compton takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. That's three minutes gone in the round. Compton slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Cohen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Nice strikes from Cohen there. Compton wants to control but Cohen is keeping busy.
Compton is pressing down on Cohen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Cohen landing with the ground and pound. Cohen trying to control but Compton is working from the bottom. Compton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cohen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cohen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Cohen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Cohen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cohen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Cohen dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Compton will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Compton backing away here, and Cohen unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Cohen misses with an uppercut. Compton saw that one coming. Compton is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Cohen. Darren Compton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Compton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cohen's waist but Cohen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Compton off to one side. Cohen has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Compton has his takedown stuffed and Cohen counters by moving into the clinch. Compton looking to slow down the pace here. Cohen is looking to take this one to the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cohen misses with a knee strike.
Compton is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Cohen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Compton throws a right hand that Cohen ducks under and follows up with a left that Cohen also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Compton fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darren Compton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Compton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cohen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Compton in the domination position with Cohen hanging on. Cohen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Cohen is keen to just control but Compton is a slippery customer. Compton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cohen is figuring out what he wants to do next. Cohen is nestled in close to Compton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cohen uses his free foot to push down on Compton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Compton. Cohen punishing his opponent with strikes. Cohen with shots to the head and body - Compton looks very uncomfortable down there. Cohen controlling his opponent. Compton is looking to improve his position but Cohen isn't that keen on the idea. Compton wants to hold on but Cohen pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cohen controlling from the full mount. Cohen lands a nice shot to the head. Phil Cohen has got the better of the ground game so far. Cohen looking to finish Compton with some ground and pound. This is bad for Compton! Cohen controlling his opponent. Cohen lands a nice shot to the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cohen controlling from mount. Cohen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Compton hang on? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Cohen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

It looked like Compton was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Compton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Compton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Compton working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Compton creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cohen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cohen sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Cohen trying to control here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cohen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Compton won't allow Cohen to sweep him here. Cohen has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Compton has passed into side control.
Cohen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Compton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Phil Cohen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cohen holding on. Compton is looking to take a break and control but Cohen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cohen is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cohen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Compton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cohen sees it coming and defends easily. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cohen is staying active underneath Compton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Compton has a takedown stuffed. Both fighters are breathing heavily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Compton is defended easily by Cohen. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darren Compton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cohen lands a slapping body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Compton gets caught napping as Cohen dives in and scores a takedown. Compton manages to retain guard. Cohen landing some decent shots from guard. Cohen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Darren Compton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Compton is looking for a triangle here but Cohen uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Phil Cohen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cohen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
