Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Alongi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adriano Freitas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Alongi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adriano Freitas! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alongi tries to clinch there but Freitas circles away.
Alongi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Freitas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Freitas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Alongi trying to control from the bottom.
Alongi regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Freitas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alongi is keeping the position for now. Alongi is trying to control the position but Freitas postures up. Alongi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Freitas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Freitas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alongi has control of Freitas's left arm, preventing Freitas from doing any damage. Alongi keeping moving, preventing Freitas from controlling successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Alongi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Freitas scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Alongi trying to hold on to Freitas's head to control him but Freitas postures up.
Alongi regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Freitas. Freitas prevents Alongi from getting back to his feet. Freitas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alongi is keeping the position for now. Freitas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Alongi keeping moving, preventing Freitas from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Freitas is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Freitas with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nice body punch from Freitas. Alongi is breathing heavily. Freitas looks for a takedown but Alongi sprawls well. Freitas with a jab. Alongi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Alongi is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Freitas is concentrating on defense, preventing Alongi from advancing position. Alongi is trying to control the action in half guard but Freitas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Freitas trying to control but Alongi postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Freitas fails with the takedown and Alongi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alongi. Alongi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Freitas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Freitas has his foot on Alongi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alongi works his way back into a safe position though. Alongi wants to control from the top but Freitas keeps moving. Freitas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Alongi trying to control but Freitas is working from the bottom. Alongi wants to get up but he can't break Freitas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Alongi with a lazy takedown attempt so Freitas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This has been an exciting period of action! Alongi will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Alongi wants to get back to his feet but Freitas is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Alongi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Freitas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Alongi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Adriano Freitas has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Alongi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Alongi wants to stand and escape but Freitas is having none of it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alongi is on top in guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pedro Alongi will probably get the nod. That's time! Alongi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Freitas thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Freitas is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Alongi has managed to free his arm - good work. Freitas is tying to control. Alongi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Alongi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alongi fails with the takedown and Freitas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Freitas looking to pass the guard. Freitas drops back looking for a leg! Alongi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alongi manages to kick Freitas off! Freitas jumps back into Alongi's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alongi wants to stand and escape but Freitas is having none of it. Freitas trying to control but Alongi is working from the bottom. Alongi is trying to control the position but Freitas postures up. Freitas trying to control the position from guard on top but Alongi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alongi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alongi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Alongi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Freitas wants to sweep but no luck. Alongi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Freitas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Alongi passes Freitas's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Freitas trying to hold on to Alongi's head to control him but Alongi postures up.
Freitas wants to improve his position but Alongi is controlling well.
Alongi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Freitas defends it well.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pedro Alongi. I think Alongi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
