PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Henry The Crab (ranked 3783 p4p, 182 weight class) and Li Lianjie (ranked 5148 p4p, 235 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lianjie walks into a stiff left hand from The Crab.
The Crab has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Team Alpha Midget in the buildup to the fight.
Lianjie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from The Crab.
The Crab works the jab nicely.
Lianjie wants to clinch
and The Crab counters with a stiff right hand.
A jab from The Crab does it's job there.
Lianjie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Crab as he jumps to the side.
The Crab misses with an uppercut. Lianjie saw that one coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and The Crab counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lianjie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as The Crab sprawls well. The Crab wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lianjie gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like The Crab wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

A left and a right from Lianjie both land. Nice combination.
The Crab misses with a wild body shot.
Lianjie tries to bum rush The Crab with a series of wild strikes but The Crab uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The Crab lands a lovely overhand right.
The Crab scores with a sloppy right hand. Lianjie should have avoided that one.
The Crab doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lianjie counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Lianjie takes one to the side of the head.
Lianjie moves in looking to clinch but The Crab pushes him off.
It looked like The Crab wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Lianjie looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

and The Crab counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lianjie takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Lianjie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lianjie moves out of range as The Crab strikes.
Lianjie shoots in for a double leg but The Crab sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Henry The Crab has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Li Lianjie.
The Crab lands a glancing blow to the side of Lianjie's head.
The Crab throws a hook but Lianjie avoids it easily.
