Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pina Colada Hoi (ranked 5711 p4p, 550 weight class) and Paul Paulsen (ranked 2169 p4p, 237 weight class). Paul Paulsen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Paulsen! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoi throws a body shot but no joy. Hoi looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hoi misses with a hook
and Paulsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hoi looks to throw the jab but Paulsen is out of range. Paulsen tries to land a body kick and Hoi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hoi. Hoi throws a big right hand that misses. Hoi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Paulsen's head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hoi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hoi postures up.
Hoi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hoi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paulsen keeping moving, preventing Hoi from controlling successfully. Paulsen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hoi.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoi throwing strikes but missing. Hoi is working Paulsen over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hoi chips away with some ground and pound. Hoi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Paulsen's head. Hoi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Paulsen's head. Hoi throws a strike but Paulsen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hoi looking for a guillotine here but Paulsen defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hoi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoi looking to control.
Hoi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hoi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Paulsen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hoi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hoi has his foot on Paulsen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paulsen works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoi looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoi, not yet. Paulsen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hoi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Paulsen has managed to get both his arms back between Hoi's legs - danger averted. Hoi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hoi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hoi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Hoi not landing any meaningful shots this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hoi connects with a nice short shot to Paulsen's temple. Hoi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hoi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hoi winds up and cracks Paulsen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoi lands with a punch from half guard. Hoi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Paulsen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hoi lands a nice short elbow. Hoi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nice strikes from Hoi there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hoi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Hoi is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hoi with good strikes from the mount here! Hoi postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Paulsen looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Paul Paulsen has been cut. Paulsen is looking to get to half guard. Hoi postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Paulsen bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Hoi and the fight is over!
