Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Fontana!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Fontana darts in and clinches Reilly up against the cage.

Fontana pulls guard.
Fontana wants to improve his position but instead Reilly has moved into half guard.
Fontana wants to control but Reilly is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fontana wants to get back to full guard.

Reilly is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fontana controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Fontana has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reilly is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fontana has managed to free his arm - good work.
Fontana controlling the position well.
Reilly perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fontana is looking to control Reilly's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fontana avoid being mounted?
Fontana is trying to stand up here but Reilly is controlling him well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Fontana darts in and clinches Reilly up against the cage.
Fontana throws a punch but it's blocked by Reilly.

Fontana pulls guard effortlessly.
Reilly throws a strike but Fontana rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Fontana throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Reilly looking for a guillotine here but Fontana defends easily.
Fontana keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reilly's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fontana working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Reilly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fontana can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Reilly escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fontana gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Reilly could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fontana postures up and lands a big shot to Reilly's brow.
Fontana stands and throws Reilly's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fontana in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fontana scoring with punches and elbows.
Fontana connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Reilly some visible discomfort.
Reilly regains half guard.
Fontana working over Reilly with some ground and pound. Reilly looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Reilly is trying to maintain the position but Fontana is very close to passing his half guard.
Reilly might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fontana wants to free his trapped foot but Reilly is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Reilly has hold of Fontana's hands but Fontana slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fontana lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Reilly quite badly. Reilly pulls Fontana in close trying to recover. Fontana postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Reilly on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Reilly doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Fontana!
