Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Johnsen (ranked 4713 p4p, 532 weight class) and Brian Maples (ranked 25200 p4p, 802 weight class). Johnsen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Cypress Hill-How Can I Kill a Man. Maples has chosen Cowboy From Hell as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Johnsen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Maples! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maples bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Johnsen's head backwards. Johnsen misses with a two punch combination.

Johnsen gets off balance looking for a body kick and Maples counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Johnny Johnsen has been cut. Johnsen clinches with his opponent.
Johnsen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maples uses from the top position. Maples controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Johnsen has his foot on Maples's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maples works his way back into a safe position though. Johnsen is looking for a triangle but Maples pushes his legs off easily.

Maples engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Johnsen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maples can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnsen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maples is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Maples wants to control from the top but Johnsen keeps moving. Maples really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnsen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnsen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maples gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Johnsen looking for a guillotine here but Maples defends easily.

Johnsen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maples doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maples manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Maples avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Maples told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Johnsen trying to keep a closed guard but Maples is proving a slippery customer.

Maples is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Maples is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Johnsen.

Post fight, Johnny Johnsen stared into the camera and said 'He is lucky I didn't kill him, these guys can't hang with me. I am a bad ass motherfucker....'. Brian Maples was interviewed post fight and said 'That could have gone better...'.
