Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Kravac (ranked 996 p4p, 135 weight class) and Pedro Rodrigues Filho (ranked 1195 p4p, 165 weight class). Pedro Rodrigues Filho has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Kravac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pedro Rodrigues Filho!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kravac throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Filho's waist but Filho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kravac off to one side.
Nice defenses there by Kravac.
Kravac shoots and misses
and Filho counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Filho misses with a hook. Kravac ducked under it nicely.
Kravac is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Filho swings for the body but Kravac moves out of range.
Kravac connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kravac will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Kravac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kravac shoots in and drives through. Filho sprawls well.
Filho throws an overhand right that lands on Kravac's shoulder, as Kravac tries to avoid the shot.
Filho throws a hook to the side of Kravac's head but Kravac sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kravac looking to score a takedown here. Filho is defending well but Kravac drives through and ends up in Filho's guard.

Filho pushes Kravac off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kravac throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Filho was covering up waiting for the punch and Kravac finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've been hearing that Kravac has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Kravac thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kravac accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kravac wants to control from the top but Filho keeps moving.
Kravac throws an elbow that misses. Filho uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kravac's guard. Nice move by Filho!


Kravac working for a triangle but Filho defends it easily.
Kravac not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Filho wants to stand and escape but instead Kravac has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kravac tries to free his leg and advance position but Filho is retaining full guard.
Kravac pushes down on Filho's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kravac not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kravac performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Kravac not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kravac has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, if Kravac is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Kravac tries to pass to full mount but Filho defends it.
Kravac perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kravac looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kravac stalling away here and it's allowed Filho to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pedro Rodrigues Filho will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Filho throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kravac sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kravac seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Pedro Rodrigues Filho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kravac lands a nice hook to Filho's body. Filho takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Filho has Kravac up against the cage in a clinch.
Filho misses with a short punch on the inside.
Filho throws a head punch that misses.
A right hook to the body lands for Filho.
Filho misses with a punch on the inside.
Filho has a couple of punches blocked by Kravac.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kravac drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Filho gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Filho wants to stand but Kravac is controlling his posture from full guard.
Filho must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kravac is controlling Filho's posture.
Kravac is trying to hold Filho in close to prevent damage but Filho has managed to pass into half guard.
Kravac wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kravac manages to get to full guard.
Filho trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kravac's guard.
Kravac is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kravac. Filho does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kravac tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Filho defends well and Kravac ends up having to push Filho into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Filho throws a hook but Kravac blocks it.
Kravac shoots in for a takedown but Filho shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Filho stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Filho throws a right hand that Kravac ducks under and follows up with a left that Kravac also avoids with ease.

Filho rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kravac moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kravac wants to control from the top but Filho keeps moving.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Filho wants to get back to his feet but Kravac is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Pedro Rodrigues Filho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kravac feints and as Filho raises his hands in defense, Kravac changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Samuel Kravac overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kravac drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Filho manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kravac has Filho in his guard.


Filho gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Kravac moves forwards but Filho connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Samuel Kravac has been cut.
Kravac throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Filho forces Kravac back against the cage and clinches.
Kravac jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Filho walks away with a smile on his face. Kravac gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kravac closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Filho did well to prevent Kravac getting side control.
Filho won't allow Kravac to pass to mount.
Kravac trying to control the pace.
Kravac seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Filho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kravac is really struggling to control Filho but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kravac is pressing down on Filho's thigh, looking to free his foot. Filho is holding on for now.

Kravac is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kravac is looking to advance position but Filho won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Filho might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Filho throws a looping overhand right but Kravac ducks down to avoid it.

Kravac doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Filho goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kravac blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Kravac is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kravac fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Kravac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Samuel Kravac has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kravac has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kravac wants to control but Filho is keeping busy.

Pedro Rodrigues Filho comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Filho winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
